Ban T-shirts has designed a new T-shirt - "Read Chomsky". Noam Chomsky is well-known and regarded in the field of linguistics, but since the Vietnam war, also in the field of political analysis and insight. He has written about the media, war and politics. One of his most well-known works is "Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media" which he co-wrote with Edward S. Herman.
Chomsky's views are considered by the many in the mainstream to be dissident. He does indeed think outside of the traditional confines of thought (many of us don't even see these barriers until Chomsky points them out to us - case of not seeing the wood for the trees), and it is this, rather than the validity of his opinions, which probably irritates critics the most.
